Be a Local Water Legend

Let's change the way we use water

Small changes can make a big difference to your water usage and save you money at the same time. We’re asking everyone to be water wise and make small changes for a big impact.

Spread the word to your family, friends and co-workers, and together we can all be Local Water Legends.

Current water restrictions

You can save money and water too

Follow these top water-saving tips:

  • Cut your shower time to four minutes.
  • Water at cooler times or better yet - check the weather forecast and wait for any upcoming rain to do the job for you.
  • Sweep outside instead of hosing down.
  • Only use dishwashers and washing machines when they are full.
  • Reduce evaporation by using a cover on your pool.

Sunshine Coast Lightning are Local Water Legends

Sunshine Coast Lightning are legends on and off the netball court. Unitywater has teamed up with them to help our communities to be water wise.

Lightning players are encouraging their teammates and the community to ‘shoot’ for shorter shower times and ‘defend’ the region’s dam levels. Check out how in the videos below. Go Lightning!

More about the SEQ water grid

The SEQ Water Grid allows us to move drinking water around our regions. This is important when patchy rainfall leaves some dam levels lower than others.
